Buckboard was organized in 1998 with the mission of providing all special needs individuals in the Nebraska Panhandle with the opportunity to experience the healing power of hterapeutic riding.  Utilizing a strong volunteer and donor base, Buckboard is able to provide this well-established therapy to people with mental and/or physical disabilities.  Hundreds of individuals and families thank Buckboard every year for helping their loved ones make considerable progress, all because of the services they provide.

Unfortunately, due to the unpredictable Nebraska weather, Buckboard currently only operates for 16 weeks out of the year, which sets back much of the progress that is made for the individual riders.

"I suffer from multiple sclerosis and have tried many different activities to help me stay limber and to just keep walking.  I started therapy riding three summers ago.  I had to have four people hold onto me because I could not keep my balance and stay sitting up by myself.  The therapy riding helped me build my balance an dmuscle strength.  Last summer I rode without anyone holding onto me all the way around the arena.  The winter months when I can't rider because the weather is too cold, I slip back and have to start over with my progress again in the spring."

Due to their current situation, Buckboard feels the next step in continuing these worthy services is to construct an indoor arena, which will enable riders to continue their therapy year-round.
